7 cup Pyrex bowl experience
"I have to used Pyrex bowls with their lids for many years. I was surprised yesterday when I took my 7 cup Pyrex glass bowl out of the freezer and let it sit on the counter for one hour to let the glass come to room temperature. It contained frozen oatmeal, was about half full, and the lid was off. I then put it back into the refrigerator overnight with the lid on. This morning I took it out of the refrigerator and took the lid off. I took all of the oatmeal out of the glass Pyrex bowl. I put the room temperature glass Pyrex bowl into the kitchen sink and put about 1/2 inch of warm water into it. Fortunately it was a deep sink because about three minutes later, I heard an explosion in the sink and saw that the Pyrex bowl had shattered into many pieces. What happened?"
